In 1974, Mike Hailwood drove a works Yardley sponsored McLaren M23 and impressed. He sometimes was as fast as team-leader and soon F1 World Champion for the second time Emerson Fittipaldi.
His career was cut short when he was badly injured in a crash at the 1974 German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring.
