Gerhard Berger, at the wheel of his Ferrari F1/87, takes the checkered flag and celebrates his second consecutive victory, after Suzuka, in Adelaide in 1987 (photo above). The Austrian, after a disappointing season, finishes 1987 in spectacular fashion.
This 1987 Australian Grand Prix was therefore won by Gerhard Berger who started from pole position, set the fastest lap, led all 82 laps of the race, and achieved the only grand slam of his career.
This victory for Berger, ahead of his teammate Alboreto, would also be the last for Scuderia Ferrari during the lifetime of its founder, Enzo Ferrari (photo below), who would pass away in August of the following year.
