Mark Donohue poses calmly in front of the “Mercury” GT40 entered by Holman & Moody, which he will share with Peter Revson at the 1967 24 Hours of Daytona (photo above). The American, complete white racing overall, seems determined to challenge the Ferrari armada.

For the 1967 Daytona 24 Hours, Ford entered as many cars as possible in the hope of beating Ferrari, who had come to Florida in force with its new 330 P4s. Six factory Fords were therefore on the starting grid: three for Shelby American and three for Holman & Moody, in addition to a few private entries.

The majority of the Ford GT40s, including those of Foyt/Gurney, Donohue/Revson and Andretti/Ginther, will unfortunately be forced to retire, and Ferrari will score a magnificent triple, with Lorenzo Bandini/Chris Amon winning in their Ferrari 330 P4.
