Ayrton Senna won the prestigious 1983 Macau Grand Prix driving a Ralt RT3-Toyota entered by Teddy Yip’s Theodore Racing team (pictured above). Senna dominated the race, securing pole position and winning both heats. This victory further cemented the legend of Teddy Yip, aka “Mr. Macau Grand Prix”.

It should be noted that Senna, held up by F1 tests, had arrived late for practice, had done little driving and was suffering from jet lag, but nevertheless obtained pole position, so important on this circuit. He went on to dominate the event.

After testing for Williams and Brabham, Ayrton Senna nevertheless chose to make his F1 debut in 1984 with the relatively modest Toleman F1 team. His first points followed in South Africa, then the exploit in Monaco… Senna had arrived.
