Gabriele Tarquini was picked up on track and brought back to the pits by Paul Belmondo and his March-Ilmor at Imola in 1992 (pictured above). The Italian qualified his Fondmetal in 22nd position, while Belmondo was 24th on the grid.

The two Williams-Renaults of Nigel Mansell and Riccardo Patrese, so dominant in 1992, monopolised the front row and finished in that order. Belmondo was classified 13th, but three laps behind the winner, while Tarquini was forced to retire with a broken engine.

Paul Belmondo (born 23 April 1963) raced in Formula One for March and Pacific in 1992 and 1994, but failed to score any championship points. The Frenchman competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans ten times and finished third in LMP2 in a Courage in 2005.

Gabriel Tarquini (born 2 March 1962) raced in Formula One from 1987 to 1995 for Osella, Coloni, First, AGS, Fondmetal and Tyrrell, scoring one championship point. The Italian had a successful career in touring cars though and won the World Touring Car Championship in 2009 with SEAT (pictured below), the British Touring Car Championship in 1994, and the European Touring Car Championship in 2003.
