The Temporada 1968 took place at the end of December on the San Juan circuit in central Argentina. This circuit offered a spectacular setting with the Andes in the background, as San Juan is a city located in a valley, east of the Andes mountain range.

La Temporada was a Formula 2 racing series held at the end of the year in Argentina, attracting European drivers and teams, happy to fill the winter months and earn a few dollars.

Formula 2 allowed 1.6-liter engines, with the Ford FVA used by most competitors. The Ferrari Dino 166, with its V6 engine, was also competitive, as it was particularly well-suited to the region’s altitudes.

Andrea de Adamich (pictured below) won the San Juan event in his Ferrari Dino 166, closely followed by Jochen Rindt and Piers Courage, both in Brabham BT23Cs.
