Not of my fault!

Andrea de Cesaris (1959 – 2014) was a good and brave driver. A string of accidents early in his career earned him a reputation for being fast and wild, but the accident (picture here-above) at Silverstone in 1991 was not of his fault, but due to a suspension failure on his Jordan 191-Ford.
The Italian started 208 Formula One Grand Prix but never won, although he came very close a few times, like at Monaco in 1982 and Spa in 1991 (picture-below), meaning he held the record for most races started without a race victory from 1991 until Nico Hülkenberg surpassed his total at the 2024 Miami Grand Prix.

Few things annoy me more in motorsport than people who don’t really know what they’re on about who delight in parroting the deCrasheris sobriquet. I still miss a driver who was that bit ‘different.’ Regards, David 😊https://davidbuckdenlooksback.blogspot.com/2021/10/andrea-what-if-part-1.html https://davidbuckdenlooksback.blogspot.com/2021/10/andrea-what-if-part-2.html https://davidbuckdenlooksback.blogspot.com/2021/11/andrea-what-if-part-3.html
