Ferrari at Le Mans
In this year of the 100th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and the fiftieth anniversary of the last official participation of the Scuderia Ferrari at Le Mans, we note that the 1974 edition, saw a few remarquable performances of Ferraris at La Sarthe, like this 312P with its V12 engine, heiress of the 1973 312PB.
Entered by the NART and driven by excellent rallye driver Jean-Claude Andruet partnered with Italian Teodoro Zeccoli, it finished in ninth overall, but not as the first Ferrari.
That honour would go to the 365 GTB4’s classified fifth and sixth: the one entered by Pozzi for Grandet/Bardini, victorious in GT, and the sister-car entered by the NART, and driven by American Dave Heinz (heir of the famous ketchup) and French driver Alain Cudini (picture below).
