Nyck de Vries, born 6 February 1995, is a Dutch racing driver. In 2019, he won the FIA Formula 2 championship and recently became World Champion in the 2020/2021 Formula E season. Nyck now hopes to find a drive in Formula One.

It all started naturally in karting in 2008, where De Vries quickly became a winner, with two consecutive titles in KF3. In 2010, at the age of 15, the Dutchman caught the eye of Ron Dennis who signed him in the McLaren Young Drivers program, and a year later he became karting World Champion in the KF1-class at Suzuka.

He made his debut in single seaters in 2012 in the Formula Renault 2.0 championship showing good potential and then moved up to the Formula Renault 3.5 in 2015 with the DAMS team, before switching in 2016 to the GP3 Series with team ART Grand Prix.

Nyck then spent three season in Formula 2, where in 2019 he finally succeeded to capture the title. De Vries did not succeed to make the step to Formula One, but Toto Wolff did not hesitate to sign him in the Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E team.

De Vries rewarded Wolff with two victories, two podium finishes and the title captured in the last race in Berlin. Recently, strongly recommended by Toto Wolff (picture below), he was a contender for the second seat at Williams in Formula One, but Alex Albon was chosen, and the Dutch driver will probably stay in Formula E for another season, where he will defend his crown.
