In 1975, Niki Lauda becomes World Formula One Champion for the first time.

Driving the superb Ferrari 312T, designed by engineer Mauro Forghieri, the Austrian was dominant, taking four Grand Prix victories in a row: at Monaco, Zolder, Anderstorp and Paul-Ricard.

Niki Lauda declared: “Taking your first title is difficult; it takes years of work – from go-kart to Formula One.”

His first World Championship was confirmed with a third place finish at the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. No better place indeed, for a Ferrari driver, to be crowned. Lauda’s team mate Regazzoni won the race and Ferrari clinched their first Constructors’ Championship in 11 years.

To finish the year on a high, Niki Lauda then picked up a fifth win at the last race of the year, the US Grand Prix at Watkins Glen (picture below).
