Mario Andretti, a legend of motorsport, 1969 Indy 500 winner and 1978 World champion, certainly considers himself lucky to have survived this era of motorsport where safety of the drivers was minimal.

“Those who survived this era of motor racing, can consider themselves as lucky. We were racing every week-end in different series, and we lost many friends along the way.”
