Dario Franchitti is a British former racing driver from Italian origin, born in Scotland in 1973.
His racing record in American championship is very impressive.
He is a four time IndyCar Series champion, in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2012) and a three-time winner of the Indianapolis 500 in 2007, 2010, 2012, as well as a winner in the 24 Hours of Daytona 2008.
In a very bad crash, at the IndyCar race in Houston Texas 2013, he sustains severe back injuries. This crash leaves him no other choice than to retire from professional racing.
He is now a commentator for the Formula E championship.
