Today we remember Dan Wheldon, born on this day June 22 in 1978, the British motor racing driver who won the 2005 IRL series for Andretti Green Racing, who also won the Indianapolis 500 twice, in 2005 and 2011, and was co-winner of the 2006 24 Hours of Daytona with Chip Ganassi Racing.

Sadly, he was killed at the season-ending race at Las Vegas in 2011, when a collision sent him at very high speed in the fences, he was 33 years old.
