Jacques Laffite - Gérard Ducarouge

For the 1979 Formula 1 season, Ligier abandoned the old Matra engine and decided to focus on the Cosworth. Gérard Ducarouge was in charge of designing the JS11, a single-seater that immediately proved competitive. Jacques Laffite won the Argentine and Brazilian Grand Prix in quick succession at the start of the season and firmly took the lead in the championship.
