Fangio in the rain
The first Grand Prix of the 1951 Formula One season took place at the Bremgarten track in Switzerland. Juan Manuel Fangio dominated the rain-sodden race in his Alfa Romeo, Farina was second and Taruffi third.

Bob Gerard at the 1950 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, in his ERA 1.5 L6s. Qualified 13th and finished 6th. It was the first World Championship Grand Prix in the history and it was won by Italian Nino Farina in an Alfa Romeo.
Sixth in France
The 1951 French Grand Prix was held at Reims, and was won by Juan Manuel Fangio and Luigi Fagioli driving an Alfa Romeo. Louis Chiron (picture above), qualified his Talbot Lago T26C in eighth, and was classified sixth, albeit 6 laps behind the winners.
