Fortunately, it was a Mercedes engine!

Dirty tyres owing to a battle with Mick Schumacher’s Haas, were to blame for the crash of Nicholas Latifi on lap 53 of the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The Canadian driver has apologised for his role in deciding the outcome of the championship, he declared: “It was never my intention and I can only apologise for influencing and creating an opportunity.”

An enormous controversy followed, due to the decisions taken by race director Michael Masi, that ultimately robbed Lewis Hamilton of the race in favour of Max Verstappen, and accusations of manipulation of the championship were heard.

We strongly believe they are unfounded. Mistakes were made, that’s certain, but can not believe in any conspiracy theory.

Moreover, I was relieved to note that Latifi’s Williams was powered by a Mercedes engine, and can only imagine the suspicion and the scale of accusations, if say Yuki Tsunoda or Pierre Gasly had crashed, in their AlphaTauri… Honda!
