After setting the fastest time in practice and leading the 1969 Dutch Grand Prix at the start, Jochen Rindt, once again, has his dream of a first victory, postponed. Less painful than at Montjuic, where a wing failure sent his Lotus 49B violently in the barriers, this time it was the driveshaft, that let him down (picture above).
Jochen Rindt will have to wait till the end of the season, and the US Grand Prix at Watkins Glen, to finally clinch this first and so much deserved victory.
The 90-lap race held at the Zandvoort circuit was won by Matra driver Jackie Stewart (picture below), after he started from second position. Jo Siffert finished a good second in his Lotus and Ferrari driver Chris Amon came in third.
