At the 1970 US Grand Prix in Watkins Glen, after the tragic death of Jochen Rindt at Monza and the retirement of John Miles, Wisell raced for Colin Chapman’s Lotus team for the first time. His first Grand Prix was the best of his career, as he achieved a third-place finish.
