Jody Scheckter, the South African Tyrrell driver, could not resist buying some pancakes (picture above) ahead of the 1976 British Grand Prix held at Brands Hatch.

Niki Lauda took pole position in front of title rival and crowd favourite, James Hunt. The two six-wheeler Tyrrell P34 of Depailler and Scheckter were fifth and eighth on the grid.

After Hunt’s disqualification, he was caught in a collision at the first start, Niki Lauda was declared the winner in front of the hard charging Jody Scheckter (thanks to the extra energy provided by the pancakes?) and John Watson in the sole Penske.
