Meteoric rise

On the 12th of April 2012, ten years ago only, Charles Leclerc, now a Ferrari driver and leader of the 2022 Formula One Drivers’ World Championship, won the first heat of the WSK EuroSeries kart race at Sarno (picture above). The young Monegasque driver, born 16 October 1997, fast and fearless, had already caught the attention of Nicolas Todt, who since then, very successfully, manages his career.

Leclerc enjoyed a meteoric rise: he won the GP3 Series championship in 2016 and the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2017.  The Monegasque made his Formula One debut in 2018 for Sauber, a team affiliated with Ferrari, for which he was part of the Ferrari Driver Academy.

In 2019 he was promoted to the Scuderia Ferrari with which he is contracted until the end of the 2024 season. The 2019 season saw Leclerc take his first two wins, in spectacular fashion, in Belgium and in Italy.

The current 2022 season started well for Leclerc and the Scuderia Ferrari, with two wins in Bahrain and in Australia (picture below) and a solid lead in the championship standings after three races. A title favourite, without any doubt, but the season is long.
