In 1974, Ken Tyrrell gave young (24) Jody Scheckter (picture above) his first full-time drive in F1. Jody rewarded him with a third-place finish in the Drivers’ Championship and a pair of wins in Sweden and in Britain.
Jody Scheckter declared: “Right from the start of my career in F1 I was fast, but sometimes too aggressive. Ken (Tyrrell) somehow calmed me down, taught me to be patient in a race. Am very thankful for the years (1974 to 1976) in his team.”
