A proud French patrol at the 1986 Monaco Formula One Grand Prix, from left to right: Patrick Tambay drove a Haas-Ford, René Arnoux was a Ligier driver, Philippe Streiff drove for Ken Tyrrell, Jacques Laffite was still by Ligier, and Alain Prost was the leading driver at McLaren.
The race was won by Alain Prost (McLaren-TAG) in front of his team mate Keke Rosberg and Ayrton Senna (Lotus-Renault). The French reigning champion was dominant: pole position, fastest lap and victory. He declared: “The car was fantastic, I tried to slow down, to play it safe, but I couldn’t, I had too much fun.”
