The Belgian Grand Prix was held at Nivelles on 12 May 1974. It was race 5 of 15 in the 1974 Formula 1 World Championship. This was the second and last Belgian Grand Prix to be held at Nivelles. For most of the next decade, the race would be held at Zolder.

Picture above: Emerson Fittipaldi, McLaren M23-Cosworth, crosses the finish line as the winner of the 1974 Belgian Formula One Grand Prix, with only a 0″35 on Niki Lauda, Ferrari 312B3-74. It is the second victory in Nivelles for the Brazilian, who had won the 1972 edition in a Lotus 72.

For this 1974 Belgian Grand Prix, 32 cars were entered. Amongst them, a Token-Ford, entered for Tom Pryce, making his first Grand Prix start (picture below). The promising Welch driver did well to qualify in 20th position, but was forced to retire on lap 66, when he tangled with Jody Scheckter’s Tyrrell.

Token Racing was a short-lived Formula One team and constructor from the United Kingdom, participating in four Grand Prix in the 1974 Formula One season. Drivers: Tom Pryce (one race), David Purley (one race) and Ian Ashley (2 races). No points scored, best finish 14th in Germany for Ashley.
