At the 1992 British Grand Prix held at Silverstone, Damon Hill (Brabham-Judd) qualified for a Formula One Grand Prix for the first time, in 26th position. Damon’s Friday time got him on the grid by 0.080 sec only, just edging out Alessandro Zanardi’s Minardi-Lamborghini. Sunday afternoon, Hill crossed the line in 16th position, 4 laps down on winner Nigel Mansell in his mighty Williams FW14-Renault.
At that time, nobody was expecting the son of Graham Hill to have the impressive Formula One career – 22 wins, 42 podiums, 20 pole positions and the 1996 World Drivers’ title – he was going to have.
