The 1960 French Grand Prix was held at the Reims-Gueux circuit, on 3  July 1960. The 50-lap race was won from pole position by Australian Jack Brabham, driving a works Cooper-Climax.

Belgian driver Olivier Gendebien drove an excellent race, surprised many by finishing second in a Cooper-Climax entered by the British Racing Partnership, while New Zealander Bruce McLaren was third in the other works Cooper-Climax.

Jack Brabham won his second consecutive title with his Cooper team defending its constructors’ title. Second in the standings was Bruce McLaren and third was Stirling Moss.

The Australian will win another world drivers’ title in 1966, his third, in a car bearing his name. He’s the only driver in F1 history to achieve this feat.
