The Scuderia Ferrari was more competitive in 1995 and Jean Alesi, always fast and fearless, achieved better results than the previous years. He is seen here-above before the start of the Spanish Grand Prix 1995.

During his spell at Ferrari from 1991 to 1995, his aggressive driving style, his emotions, his passion, combined with the use of the number 27 on his car, led the tifosi to love him and compare him to legendary Canadian Gilles Villeneuve.

Interestingly, the design of Alesi’s helmet was inspired by the one of late Elio de Angelis.

Designed by John Barnard and Gustav Brunner, the Ferrari 412T2 was powered by the 3.0 litre V12. The aerodynamics were revised with the side pods shortened and the car also dropped the ‘raised nose’ design which had been used the previous three seasons.

Jean Alesi won in Canada on his 31st birthday, and both he and team mate Gerhard Berger finished on the podium in several other races, scoring 73 points in total. This placed Ferrari in third position in the Constructors’ standing for 1995, but in the Drivers’ Championship nobody could top the dominating Michael Schumacher (Benetton-Renault), who was crowned for the second time.
