Americans Mario Andretti and Mark Donohue relax against the pit wall, minutes before the start of the 1975 Monaco Formula One Grand Prix.

Andretti qualified ninth in his Parnelli-Ford, but was forced to retire on lap 13 due an oil leak. Donohue, qualified his Penske-Ford in 16th position but a mistake sent him in the barriers on lap 66, and that was the end to his race.

Mario Andretti said: ” There is something special about racing in real streets. The artificial circuits have a certain sameness to them. But every race conducted on real streets has a character of its own – Barcelona, Long Beach and Monaco.”

The race was won by Austrian driver Niki Lauda giving the new Ferrari 312T, designed by Mauro Forghieri, its first win. This win broke a 20-years drought at Monaco for Ferrari!
