Swiss F1 driver Jo Siffert and team owner Rob Walker on the grid of the 1969 Monaco Grand Prix. The two seem in pensive mood, minutes before the start of the race.
The 80-lap race was won by Graham Hill, driving a works Lotus-Ford. It was Hill’s 14th and final Grand Prix victory, and his fifth Monaco win, a record that would stand for 24 years before being bettered by Ayrton Senna.
Siffert qualified fifth in his Rob Walker entered Lotus-Ford and finished on the podium (3rd), behind Graham Hill (Lotus) and Piers Courage second in a Frank Williams entered Brabham.
In 96 F1 starts, the spectacular Swiss will obtain two victories, six podium finishes, two pole positions and 68 career points.
