This 2021 season brought an end to the championship domination of Mercedes in the V6 turbo-hybrid era (which started in 2014) as Max Verstappen driver for Red Bull Racing-Honda, won the title for the first time in his career.

The Belgian-born Dutch racing driver, 24 years old, took 10 Grand Prix victories and stood a total of 18 times on the podium, on his way to the 2021 Drivers’ crown.

Christian Horner (picture below), Red Bull Racing’s team principal was full of praise for his driver, saying his driving has kept Red Bull in the fight for the title.

And we do agree. Max’s exceptional driving skills, his sense of attack, his capacity of pushing the car to its limits all the time, has been outstanding all season, and we believe he was instrumental in the success of his team. For his title, for this crazy year (thanks, of course, to Lewis as well) but also for the impact he has made on Formula One and on motor racing in general, he’s our ‘Driver of the Year’.
