The European

Bertrand Gachot considers himself as an European citizen (born from a French father and a German mother, he was raised in Belgium before moving to England and then to Spain and nowadays he is a Dubai resident) and that’s why he had a European flag painted on his helmet.

He showed promise at the wheel of the pretty Jordan 191 in 1991 before being jailed for a stupid incident with a London cab driver, which gave Michael Schumacher his chance in F1.

Gachot then raced for the Larrousse team (6th at Monaco in 1992, in the Venturi with a V12 Lamborghini engine) before finishing his chaotic Formula 1 career with the uncompetitive Pacific (picture here-under), a team where he was a co-owner.
