In 1974, at the Italian Formula One Grand Prix was held at Monza and the drivers were driven around the circuit for the parade lap, sheered by the Italian fans, the tifosi, in a very glamorous… Fiat 126! (picture-above).

Ronnie Peterson and Jacky Ickx, the two JPS Team Lotus drivers seem to appreciate the view, with Peterson sitting on the roof of the Fiat, while Ickx is standing through the open roof.

Mixed fortunes for the two champions: Peterson qualified his Lotus 72 in 7th position and stormed to a fantastic victory (picture below), just 0.8s ahead of the McLaren M23 of Emerson Fittipaldi.

While Ickx, less at ease than his team mate in the Lotus 72, qualified a distant 16th and was forced to retire with throttle problems on lap 30 after an anonymous race.
