The little Brazilian Roberto Moreno always grabbed the devil by the tail without getting a full-time drive in a top team.

Winner of the Formula Ford Festival in 1980 and British Formula 3 champion the following year, he made his F1 debut at the 1982 Dutch Grand Prix where he replaced the injured Nigel Mansell in the Team Lotus, but could not qualify.

He would have to wait many years before coming back into Formula One through the back door, at AGS (6th at the 1987 Australian Grand Prix), Coloni, Jordan, Andrea Moda and even Forti Corse, but he finally had his day of glory with Benetton, scoring a podium finish at the 1990 Japanese Grand Prix next to his friend and compatriot Nelson Piquet, in a legendary one-two (picture here-under).
